Isaiah Mustafa also known as the man your man could smell like, narrates the Old Spice commercial. The commercial is to target teenage ad middle age and insecure men, men who want to be more attractive to women, and also women. When the commercial first starts the narrator is addressing, women applying to their desire to make their men more attractive. Even though all the events in the commercial can not be logically proven to be true, like the luxury things diamonds, having a boat, it draws in the audience. With the insecure men; the narrator is well built and have his shirt off, even though the commercial is about the body wash, insecure men will buy it. Men want to be more attractive to women, and having Old Spice and smelling like it will be something that can make them more attractive. For example, a date, the women smells the Old Spice and they guy could say, “ Yeah Isaiah Mustafa wears it as well”. The narrator also connection to the viewers sense of humor, and his forceful delivery and use of exaggeration, makes him charismatic and more charming. The tone of the narrator voice plays a huge part as well because a person would be more likely to buy the product is the person selling it knows what they are talking about; which makes sense, because I wouldn’t buy something if the seller was unsure about the product. Lastly, imagery is used in the commercial example, when the Old Spice was arising from a hand full of diamonds to apply to pathos, also to make the audience associate Old Spice with luxury. Even though the audience know that having Old Spice will not get them all the luxury things that are being portrayed in the commercial, it just makes the commercial an eye grabber. Things coming out of someones hand only makes a person more likely to watch the commercial and gives the product a higher chance to be bought. Men want women to find them attractive, and women want to make their men more attractive and the commercial is basically saying that men who uses Old Spice will become more attractive to women because of the positive images that were portrayed. The tone of the narrators voice and the speed of his argument also makes the product seem to be more urgent. What makes this commercial effective is that it uses emotions. Basically telling the view that they can become more attractive if they use the product. Not only that, it will enhance the viewers confidence because they see that a well-built man is using the product himself, and some viewers will just buy the product just because the well-built man is wearing it. For example, people would just buy something just because someone special has it. Apple products, may can do the same as other products, just more expensive.
