Finally my grammar has improved constantly throughout the course. I was able to see my mistakes and how to fix them when I was able to read my grader’s notes. Altering each of my common mistakes helped me understand how to write with correct grammar. The feedback I would get from the instructors helped to improve my rhetorical analysis paper. I learned to ask for assistance when I encountered a problem.
I learned a lot from each essay and assignment I did, which I believe has helped me to be a better
I learned how to formulate a restricted, unified, and precise thesis statement. I am now able to organize essay content into introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs. I also learned how to construct and organize unified, coherent, and well-developed paragraphs. I am able to apply grammar and usage rules correctly and develop clear, concise sentences. I learned about parallelism, run-on, comma splices and sentences.
The last thing I want to do is overwhelm students with new information about composition. If students begin to feel the course is cumbersome then they will quickly lose interest. Aysegul Bayraktar states: Determining and increasing students level of self-efficacy is essential because students with high self-efficacy work hard, persist, seek help when completing challenging tasks, feel less apprehensive when faced with writing problems, approach difficult tasks as challenges instead of ignoring or avoiding them to save face, set more challenged goals, believe that they will achieve their goals, take risks, engage in related activities, and are confident with the awareness of
This spring semester, I supposed all my writings had both several strengths and weaknesses. I found that one of my strengths was how I was easily able to
Throughout the class, I have learned that my writing has grown greatly and what undercover talents I think I have within writing skills. In classes previously to Composition One, I have gotten very good grades on papers and the classes came very easily to me. Although, Composition One has showed me that I’m not a perfect writer and I still have many things to work on to get to the level that I would like to be at. One goal that Composition One helped me learn was how to demonstrate effective writing as a recursive process.
Making the decision of what college was best for me, was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I was torn betweeen a private university and a public university. Each school had different things to offer me and seperate characteristics that I loved. My decision was made a lot easier once i discovered that Old Dominion University was more cost effecent, has newer dorms, slightly larger, and has more availabe recources to ensure success. Due to lack of Government funding, attending a private school is much more costly than a regular four year university.
The weekly reading assignments were very helpful. Some of the topics were great refreshers of common mistakes made when writing; these knocked some of the cobwebs in my mind loose. The other topics with sample writings gave me an idea of what to do. The instructor feedback and the revision recommendations were probably the most helpful tools in my composition process.
I have taken away many useful strategies and information from the College 101 class I took this summer. This course has given me enough information to help me feel confident that I will be successful in the rest of my highschool experience and my future college experience. This course has given me skills that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Learning to study properly, avoid procrastination, and take notes correctly has been something that has already helped me tremendously. It has helped me feel less stressed on a day-to-day basis as well as improving my school work quality.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
I originally thought it was all just writing papers to improve our skills rather than do exercises that actually help us. I think this class gave me a great foundation to build off of in the future and to fine tune my writing skills in college and the future. I think this class for me has really opened my eyes to how lazy of a writer I was because I didn 't take the time or put the effort in. During this class I have improved in countless ways that will be needed to be successful in the next level of education. Although I feel I have drastically improved, there are aspects in my wring that need work, but I think they will come with more time and
Writing essays and other types of posts has always been difficult for me. But, throughout this composition class, I have learned many interesting and new things about the different types of writing styles. When starting this class, I considered myself to be an average writer with run-of-the-mill vocabulary, ordinary sentence structure and typical finished products. This class has helped me greatly improve my writing skills in a variety of ways. I have learned multiple things by taking this class, such as new ways to approach writing and that there is much that I still need to learn about composition.
I feel like I have made a lot of progress in this course. I believe that I am better prepared for future writing assignments. This semester I believe that I have learned how to write better, how to incorporate source material, and how to write in MLA format. This semester I believe that I have considerably improved my writing skills.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
The art of argument persuasion I’ve learned in this course is so beneficial for my marketing major. Other than that, it made me develop the essay writing skills necessary for success in my studies at the university level. This English course also taught me how powerful written words can be, and how the delivery of the tone is important for the reader. The tone of a narrative is different than the tone of a research, where the difference makes the paper. Also, the power in written words tells how much it is crucial to mankind.
