Caycee Cunningham is a typical 8th grade student in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She grew dreadlocks as a part of, as she explains, her spiritual journey in her Hindu beliefs (Kelley, 2015). She says that it is representative of her turning over a new leave and chapter in her life. Her mother received a call one day from the principle of the middle school saying that her daughter’s hair is against the schools dress code. Her mother believes that it is a racial problem, because there are other students at the school of other races, with the same hair style.
“You’re going to the alternative school? What did you do to go there? You’re not a bad student.” If you live in Haysville, you know that there are two high schools. Haysville High, or the “inferior” school offers an alternative program.
Harel Tillinger In the case presented, Hopewell High School has a practice of saying a voluntary prayer before each football game in which the coaches may participate and these prayers take place on school grounds. A father of two football players on the team, sued the school district because his children do not participate in the team prayers and are ostracized for doing so. In the case of O’Connell v. The reason of why Hazel took the non-paying job at New Hope School in Boise City was because she felt bad about the school not getting the proper support that the school needs in order to run smoothly. Another reason of why New Hope School was broken and couldn’t pay the teachers was because the farmers had stop paying taxes which led the school to go bankrupt without no support from the government nor the president. Hazel had a newborn baby girl named Ruth Nell; she died on dust pneumonia when she was just a year
I will be spending the 2016-17 academic year teaching Chemistry at James Irwin Charter High School. My responsibilities at James Irwin do not stop with teaching – I also manage the science department and am at the forefront of health and wellness efforts across all four James Irwin Charter campuses (not to mention all of the unwritten tasks of a teacher). In managing the science department, I collaborate in curriculum meetings, coordinate weekly lab inspections, support the success of my colleagues, and oversee all purchase orders. Working at James Irwin has taught me valuable workplace ediquette. The most practical example of that involves teamwork.

We the people of Russell Kansas find our safety, community, and families at risk! These past couple of years we have been disturbed by the drugs and festation of the people committing theses crimes and acts around us. Russell is known for our quiet country feel where are children can be safe to run and play without the worries because of our self engaging community. Since the years, we are noticing large amounts of drugs soaring through or streets in which have began to affect the unimaginable. Our concern for the safety of our wellbeing would be in better hands if there was more law enforcement to help fulfill these uneasy feelings.
Gisselle Zepeda Mr. Lievre American Government Credit 5 Board of Education of Westside Community Schools Versus Mergens The Equal Access Act upheld by the Supreme Court in Board of Education v. Mergens, 1990, requires public secondary schools to allow access to religiously based student groups on the same basis as other student clubs. The school administration denied a group of students their right to create a Christian after school club. The students intended for their club to have just the same privileges and club meetings as all other after school clubs. The schools excuse being that it lacked faculty support which led to the school and district being sued by the students.
Aside from what was said before, it does not take even Einstein himself to figure out that what Ahmed had brought to class had no physical representation of something seen hazardous by mankind, yet Ahmed’s teacher had the guts to claim that what Ahmed brought in was the legitimate representation of a bomb. As you can see from the picture shown above, Ahmed brought in had no explosives attached; it was presented in a metal case and contained only circuits. Even someone who is inexperienced can determine that multiple circuits can only make a spark and not an explosion. This questions the hiring system for teachers in schools like this. Someone this inexperienced should not partake in the education system.
Journal Log # 7 Working as an intern over the past few weeks has been rewarding but also draining. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with Mr.Colaio at Bronxwood Prepatory Academy. Mr. Colaio observed a counseling session conducted by myself and a bright 10th grade student who has the potential to pass, but unfortunately she is failing. I will briefly discuss the background of the student I met with. This student also has an IEP, and is dealing with serious emotional disturbance.
Junior year was a bit challenging for me. It was not challenging because of the work, but I joined a career program. I had to keep up with both of my schools. For me to be successful with so many things going on, I had to stay organized and think ahead. My success was that I kept all my grades above a C+.
In my first three years of high school, I have had many struggles that have taken me on a different track than what I expected. My freshman year I had received four concussions. Some of these were sports related while others just happening by accident. These accidents left me missing tons of school and made me fall behind. Classes were hard to keep up with mentally as well as emotionally.
