Criterion A: Rationale and Preliminary Research In a world filled with temptation, committing a sin is seemingly far easier than not. This temptation, this sin, draws a person away from God and begins to construct a barrier between them. Today, religion does not play as major a role as it previously had in the everyday lives of most people. In generations past, most businesses were not even allowed to be operational on Sundays, referred to in the United States as Blue Laws. These laws forced people to take time to reconnect with their families, and more importantly, with God. Well, many times throughout the Bible, in almost every book, the word “Repent!” is a found. Jesus himself told others, “If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven” (John 2:21-2). Jesus would not have spoken these words if it were not truly important. Also, Confession is one of the seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church, through which God’s grace can be found, and His grace is only felt in the presence of important beliefs. Today, many people, including myself, ask God directly for forgiveness, and one does not need to be in a confession booth to speak to God.
