Rather we know it or not, conformity plays a big role in our lives. Even more so, it plays a huge role in teens that are growing up in the world today. Teens are just figuring out who they are and easily give in to what they think is right. Teens are still trying to find themselves; without losing themselves in a crowd in which they know nothing about. The way teens dress conforms to society and how majority of people are wearing whatever is trending. They see the people around them dressing a certain way and looking a certain way, they want to be a part of that. Research shows, the teen years are often marked by angst and confusion. Teens often emulate those that they perceive to have a leadership role, someone they can look up to and follow. Not only are they able to change how they dress, but how they talk and act can be a factor in conforming. My niece looks up to her older sister wanting to be just like her when she gets older. She mimics everything she does; from every movement to the way she behaves. She doesn’t understand some things she does she isn’t suppose to be. She follows her sister and what she does, thinking its ok since her sister is doing it. I’ve learned that as a teen you think you know more than you actually do. When I was younger I thought as if I knew everything and my parents couldn’t tell me anything.
