Beginning
Around 500 BCE, China faced with the anarchic period, known as Warring States Period. After Zhou people conquered Shang dynasty and other portions of China, they established the feudal system, which appointed administrative power to friendly nobles. This system seemed to work quite well for the first half of the Zhou period, however, the system itself was not lasting. There was a great turmoil due to how the feudal lords and serfs turned against each other and rebellion against the emperor was also carried out. Power was constantly shifting from one person to another and war caused so much loss and suffering until Confucius, the sage who proposed the solution to end this crisis, was born.
Confucius posted an effective solution to the problem of the unrest that had vastly undermined China during that time. His solution was to return to the old Chinese customs before social unrest broke out and he also encouraged the idea of moral principles for he believed that this approach would bring peace and order back to the society.

He also got to further his knowledge of other virtuous rulers like King Wen, King Wu and the Duke of Zhou who believed that the heaven allowed them to rule due to their great emphasis on virtue through his study of the Classic of History; this helped to shape his idea that nurturing one’s virtue is very important for political maintenance. It is also in the context of Warring states period that prompted Confucius to come up with the idea of personal development of moral virtues and social reform due to how he realized that this problem arose from how the sovereign power ruled without morality and
