In today’s world, there is a growing number on social media, innovators everyday are coming up with new ways friends and strangers can stay connected or meet for the first time. Attending University of Colombia is Emily Witt, “Love me Tinder” is one of many literature pieces Witt has done. In “Love me Tinder” she talks about how the dating world is changing around people with new matchmaking apps to connect an individual to another, then dives into how it has advantages of these apps or sites coming out. The “woman of the year”, Sherry Turkle writes “Growing up Tethered” and within that writing talks about how technology is changing around us on how people interact with others, but the same skills as previous generations still applies to today’s …show more content…

Technology, specifically social media apps that allow us to connect to similar people have made it easier to self express themselves as they are more comfortable with the environment surrounding them, leading to that constant interaction with other humans at the touch of a button. As an end result technology can evolve a persons identity. Continuation growth of social media is allowing people to express themselves in a more effortless way. Social media lets people display who they are and what they are into making it easier for people to show to their peers what they are into as Turkle says. She also says it is adding stress to people in high school and continuing all the way into higher education. In Turkle’s “The Avatar of Me” she says peoples profile turns into a figure of themselves by, “And it can take place on social-networking sites as well, a statement not only about who you are but who you want to be”(245). Turkle talked about social media and how it lets people be themselves. Similarly, Witt says how the meeting new friends and dating world is evolving around the younger generations.
