Video Games Video games have completely changed over the past half century and so has the controversy regarding “violent video games” and its link with actual violence. In 1952 the first computer game was made by A.S. Douglas; he made a tic tac toe computer game. Later in 1958 the first real video game was made by William Higinbotham he called it Tennis for Two. Tennis for Two was played on a small circular monitor connected to a computer made for solving mathematical equations. Later the first at home video game console, The Odyssey, was introduced in 1972 by Ralph H. Baer. Furthermore in 1977 the Atari 2600 comes out stunning the homes of America with brilliant colors new innovated graphics and the option to choose difficulty. In 1980 Pac-Man come out and becomes the bestselling arcade game of all time. In 1981 Jumpman comes in to rescue a princess from a ravage ape. This is the first Mario game and it sparked up Nintendo’s revenue and ideas by also coming up with The Legend of Zelda. In

The government would not be allowing a multi-billion dollar industry from growing which is not something a strong democratic capitalistic county would do. America stands proud on letting people run their own businesses but to ban the sale of video games will not only ruin game franchises but also local businesses that sell video games such as: Game Stop, Play and Trade and even Walmart. If the government was to ban the sale of video games, what would be the reason? If the reason is that video games are the motive of youth violence then the government should ban cigarettes that actually leads to cancer and many other diseases. However the government does not ban cigarettes because the public has the choice on whether or not to buy them. In addition it would also be unfair to the millions of people that are working to make
