Cooperating Lesson Plan Reflection
The artifact was developed and implemented for two kindergarten students from the ages of five to six years old. The subject taught in the artifact is reading. The classroom setting is a resource room with varying grade levels and exceptionalities. The artifact was developed for two exceptional education (ESE) students identified as learning disabled as well as English as a Second Language (ESOL). The best practices utilized to develop and implement the artifact is CRISS strategies specifically pictures and also reading wonders. The FEAPs are also addressed through aligned instruction with standards, engaging and challenging lesson and formative/summative assessments. Lastly, the FEAPs are addressed through higher order questions and collaboration with my cooperating teacher. I will continue to grow as it relates to the artifact by reflecting after every lesson/observation and being open to suggestions by my superior in order to be able to succeed. I will also do through research on reading based strategies to incorporate in reading to enhance comprehension. As a result of creating the artifact, I learned how to adapt the topic of the lesson to meet the varying levels. As result of implementing the artifact, I learned that utilizing visuals and having the students come up to the board (since there only three) helps with comprehension. What I would do to improve the artifact, is add more visuals such as a PowerPoint and have the students work in a small group to help one another. The small group will benefit the lesson, I realized, because each student has a different weakness so among themselves they can help each other. As for improving student learning, I would create math centers. Each center will be a different way to multiply. At the centers, the students would use different manipulatives to show ways to multiply such as an array, repeated addition
