Today’s school face many difficult challenges. Classrooms are filling up with children having diverse needs, including both emotional, physical, cultural and high poverty backgrounds. Therefore, with the push having Grand City’s literacy at a high level, the growth of technology and recruiting and maintaining high-quality teachers.
Having personnel with specialized expertise in reading instruction can and will provide essential services that provide not only students but also teachers. Too often teachers, especially in the Grand City schools, who are overwhelmed and as a reading specialist will help teachers to develop a real understanding of reading. Leaders have a deeper understanding and influence on schools by providing comprehensive leadership that targets and extends high standards. Another purpose is social responsibility and making a difference in children’s lives. Educational leaders of change focus on developing teachers both individually and collectively, school climate, parent and community ties (Fullan, 2015). Equally important, a change leader needs to close the achievement gap between high and low-performance schools.
Change Leaders need to be:
Engage, and practice
Coherence: building relationships, and diverse knowledge
Create a rich environment for learning
Learning in context which is being in the schools to identify the real problems and developing practical solutions
Sustainability: supporting and regenerating towards education improvement and cultivating new leaders (Fullan, 2015)

Summary
As a Reading specialist in the Grand City School District, I hope to help the teachers by giving them strategies that they may be able to use in their classrooms immediately. Teaching children to read requires excellent instruction and strategies from professionals specially trained to provide it. Students now come to school with different levels of achievement. Therefore, Grand City school district needs to add a reading specialist in each school to help the community with the variety of performance levels in classrooms. Also, reading specialists have advanced training and leadership skills with experience in teaching general and struggling readers.
