The career I am interested in is becoming a copywriter; a copywriter is a person who is responsible for the generating the words, slogan, and audio scripts that are used for advertising. They create fresh saying for content for advertising, marketing, and descriptive text. They work in different mediums such as print, web, radio, and televisions based advertisements. They are the ones that help convey the message the company wants to portray and make it catch or eye catchy. They also brainstorm multiple different concepts given the requirements given by the client. Though the relaxed dress code does not affect how demanding and competitive the field is to create the next best thing for a client. Many copywriters are free-lance workers or work for a copywriters firm; most do not have a full-time position in a company. Being hired is all based on one’s ability to create compelling text that draws readers in, conveys a certain message or entertains. There are no set entry requirements to go into the field. One must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a field of journalism, communication, Advertising, or design. It is also a benefit to those in a communications degree to have courses in an art/ design class to help create a well-versed resume. This will help when meeting with an art director or graphic designer and being able to understand their lingo. Most copywriters then have internal training once hired by the more experienced colleagues and learn tips and tricks from someone in the field. On top of that, some employers require employees to have the IPA Foundation Certificate before being hired. To reach a position like a Creative Director it typically takes at least 5 to ten years working on high profile campaigns and some industry awards. There is so hope though copywriters often move up with their advertising art director so if they are on the up others on their team are soon to follow. Though, if one is doing free-lance work they are typically a senior copywriter who is well established and has companies coming to them. The skills required for this field is creativeness, determination, persuasiveness, see social perception, writing skills, see varies viewpoints, look for detail, work well under pressure, and work well with others. All these skills are important because one must be creative and curious enough to talk about a client’s product or service. While, maintaining a balanced, organized, and manageable workplace environment, including the ability to work through problems that might arise. The messages created must be persuasive enough to convince or sway a person’s thinking about a product or service through clear and concise diction. Copywriters should stay current in the happening around the world and the competitors’ activities to try and get
