As a Roman senator whose ancestor once defeated tyranny in Rome, Brutus had honour. He was highly regarded by the citizenry and had a well deserved reputation for integrity, all whilst harboring no personal ambition, embracing the ideals of freedom and democracy, and feeling a personal responsibility to preserve these ideals for the Roman people.
