Hairstyles of the Damned by Joe Meno is a story about a boy named Brian and it takes the reader through one of the most confusing and stressful times in a person’s life, the teenage years. Brian is navigating his way through the punk scene while dealing with drama, conformity, love, friendship, and family. Gretchen’s car and Mike’s basement develop the theme of Brian trying to find his identity and place in the world by being places of introspection, places where important moments happened, and places that give him the freedom he wants. Despite Gretchen’s car being a piece of junk, it was a safe place for Brian to be introspective.

Yes, I am a hairstylist and I work at a chain salon. No, it 's not "hard labor" and yes, there are much tougher jobs out there. But if you 've never worked in a hair salon, then you don 't understand half of it. Everyday I am talked down to and treated badly by some jackass who thinks they 're better than me because I "just do hair".
Being nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. I was certainly looking to be a part of this prestigious honor society since the beginning of my high school career here in United States. BridgeUp in itself is obviously an amazingly creative program that offers up many valuable opportunities for teens who are lucky enough to get accepted. Such a tool that allows students to better themselves and overall help develop a plethora of skills is an extremely beneficial privilege. If ever I am to be accepted into such a program, I would consider myself rather fortunate. Furthermore, not only do I think that it would be advantageous for me to be considered a spot in this program, but I also feel as though that I’m a perfect fit for it.
I believe I should be selected for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship because I am not the typical high school senior. When it comes to my education, I go about and beyond expectations. My desire to do my best in school shows consistently year after year. I put in equal amount of effort when it comes to my after school activities and community involvement. I was told at a young age that education was the key to success and from that point on I made it my main priority not to be the average student among those that settle for less but to be a outstanding student that rises to every occasion to take advantage of my education.
Moreover, I have worked very hard throughout high school to better myself and those around me in the many ways mentioned above. I also serve as a role model, both inside the classroom and out, by pushing myself to accomplish goals even I do not always believe I could, always respecting others and listening attentively to the opinions of people around me, and making an effort to enrich the lives of others. I am hopeful the National Honor Society will help me develop this further, and thank you for taking hte time to read my application.
There are many reasons why I would like to attend the Air Force Academy. I have researched the academy and found it to be not only one of the top colleges in the nation but an institution that produces great leaders. Being that I will be the first member of my family to attend college, I wanted to ensure that the college I attend is more of life long journey than a stop along the way. All of the Academy Night Event’s I have attended have taught me that the Air Force is something you belong to for the rest of your life and that is what I am looking for.
I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.
The first reason is that it will grant me the opportunity to provide for not only myself but also the family that I wish to have in the future. Another reason that I should be admitted into the Fortis College Dental Hygiene program is the fact that it will provide me with the opportunity to help others. One of my goals in life has always been to be able to help at least one person a day. By granting me admission into the Dental Hygiene program, I will be able to accomplish this goal in more ways than one. Lastly, another reason that I should be accepted into the Dental Hygiene program is that I am a fast learner, I am goal-oriented, punctual, positive, and ambitious.
I have always enjoyed the art of cosmetology because it helps bring out people's features, makes them feel more confident, and there's always different looks for everyone. I remember when I would get my hair done, being so intrigued by the art that came from it. How changing the color of someone's hair can change there whole look, or how a simple haircut can bring out certain face features. When I first started doing hair and makeup, I was not very good, but the more I kept practicing the better I got. On the other hand I have always been pretty good with doing hair.
Finally, I am optimistic because I like to make the people around me happy too. I would love to be a part of the National Honor Junior Society because it will give me more opportunities to be a leader and participate in community services and also to help the people around me. I hope I can receive the chance to participate in this program and I have worked really hard for this opportunity so I hope you will accept this application
I am accustomed to a rigorous course load and having to manage my time. Being a part of the Honors College, surrounded by those who share the same ideals and high standards as I do, will only further my success. Living in an academically inclined environment would allow for me to make great working relationships and friendships! Not only that, but the Honors College provides many opportunities for study groups and extra help; which will be rather beneficial considering I am planning on majoring in biochemistry. I would be an exceptional candidate for the Honors College because I am not only interested in getting a fantastic education, but I want to get involved in the school and make my college experience the best that it can be.
