The purpose of an assessment is so that the counselor is able to find out the clients problem, able to look deeper into the problem and also able to give the client an answer on what their problem is. An assessment is also the basis which helps the counselor find out the problem the client is facing and also find out the root cause of it. Some places can't tell the difference between assessment and testing ( Cohen & Swerdlik, 2002 ; Gladding, 2009 ). This means that not many places which practices counseling knows the different between an assessment and a testing in counseling.
