County Fair Week Analysis

For some people there favorite memory only comes one time, but, for me I have had four of them. I have been showing market hogs for four year at the county fair. My very first year I had no clue what I was doing but, some of my best friends are some of the best hog showmen in the state of Michigan, so it didn’t take me long to catch on. Fair week is always my favorite week of summer and probably always will be. In July, 2012 I walked into the show ring at the Huron Community Fair for the first time showing a market hog. My nerves were as big as an elephant, my heart was beating so fast, and I still wasn’t 100% sure about what I was doing. Together my dad and I worked on our hogs trying to prepare to show at more than just the county fair. We attended three shows before the county fair. At these shows we placed well but nothing spectacular. The last week in July came again, I was excited to show at the fair again, because I knew that I had improved greatly over the last year. July 24, the hog show we are up bright and early preparing for what we know is going to be a long day. As the day beings I win my showmanship division. My dad and I both thought that this would be the only thing we would achieve for the day. Along came Individual classes, I won my class and again that means going in for the final drive. I was happy with that and I thought my day was over. The judge got on the microphone and thanked everyone for a great day and that he had a hog in the ring that he has liked all day, he grabbed his son and made one more trip around the ring to make sure his decision was correct. He than walked over to me and shook my hand, I had one the Market Hog show for the second time, back to back years I was beyond ecstatic. I walked out of the ring with a big smile on my
