"During the "Middle Ages", from 476 to about 1100, European civilization slipped into semi-barbarism". It was a very hard and bad time, but a lot of historians debate about if Europe was in a "dark age" or not. The evidence states that Europe was a dark age. There was a lot of evidence that states that Europe was not in a dark age.
How did late medieval governments shape life in positive and in negative ways? The government shaped life in a positive way by protecting the kingdom from invaders and keeping people safe. The monarchs had armies and lots of knight at their disposal. The knights had a code of honor so they were nice to women and others.
Of all the facets of society, one universal theme that is present in every society in history is power. Since the evolution of mankind, power has been present; man has ruled over, bribed, murdered, helped, taxed, and taught man as long as there has been a man. Why is this? Why do people need power? Why do people give power?
In the Middle Ages, the power of people impacted the society, because of the Feudal System. In other words, the rankings of people. There were four groups. The Kings and Queens were at the top, then the nobles, the knights, and last peasants and serfs(Doc. 1). Serfs and peasants had very little land given and they even had to provide food that they farmed for the knights and nobles.
Power comes from the latin word poss which means to able or to make then the word changed its form a bit to poeir Anglo-Norman French to what we use now power from Middle English. Power comes from ambition because it can't be easily gained, you have to work for it or else it's not power. A long period of time where power stayed in one place would be with the Roman Catholic Church in the middle ages. This church rose from the combination of belief, money, and illiteracy. The majority could not read so they were dependent on a place where they could worship and hear the word of god.
In our world, there is power everywhere you look from schools, into classrooms, at restaurants, and even at home. There are many forms of power like a coach, teacher, or president but all show power in our society

This period was characterized by various changes in the religious, political, economic and social systems across the world. One of the most significant changes during this period was the deviation from the ancient ways of life to the medieval customs. On the other hand, religious and political institutions underwent various changes whereby they had to adapt to the rapidly changing environment. However, religion was the most powerful determinant of political as well as social reforms throughout this period.
Sometimes in this world power means a lot to people, in the past and future power will always play a role in some peoples lives. Julius Caesar and Malcolm X where two powerful men and as we know power can either take over the greater good or just evil. We have to watch how we use power. Julius Caesar was a popular leader of the Roman Republic which then became The Roman Empire.
But first what is Power? When researching Power words such as authority, control, direct, command and influence all appear. These words all support the following statement “Power is the ability to influence and control the behaviour of others.” The problem with power is that it often leads to those in power abusing it. As Lord Acton famously quoted “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
The concept of power is analogous to the deceptive appearance of a rose. Although people are allured to the blossom due its silky petals and crimson color, much like they are attracted to power because of the opportunities it withholds, the blossom also contains thorns, representative of the corruption one can create by abusing their powers. Consequently, it is no surprise that those who hold great power often become corrupt because they utilize their powers for their own selfish desires. There is a great responsibility that is attributed to possessing power, and those who fail to use their influence with good intentions tend to fall victim to their own selfish needs. Meanwhile, powerlessness is far less corruptive than power.
What determines who is powerful and who is powerless in a society? Is the concept of power accessible to everyone or just certain individuals who possess incumbent resources? According to the Cambridge English dictionary, power is defined as the ability or right to control people and events, or to influence the way people act or think in important ways. Many people in modern society strive to reach an overall powerful status amongst others, for this is evident in the play, The Crucible by Arthur Miller. In certain instances, there are even different branches of the notion.

Everyone, at one point in their lives has wanted power more than anything. Those who do get it have to make the decision whether they want to use it for good or evil. Power can turn a person into something they never dreamed they would become because it starts to take over their lives and people do not know what to do with so much power.
