Golden rays danced across the deep blue surface of the still water as the day awoke. A cascade of light enveloped the horizon, unveiling a bountiful array of colours. Fields of red roses serenaded the sky, while enormous willow trees, swayed in the light breeze, applauding its arrival. Perched precariously upon a thin branch stood a delicate wood pigeon. Without warning a loud crack echoed across the area and the pigeon fell to the mercy of gravity. A flurry of colour erupted from its sides as it soared with ease above the treetops, escaping the grasp of the earth. It flew for many miles before fatigue began to take over. It drifted slowly toward the ground where it lay upon the damp dirt for an age while the sun and moon chased each other across the skies bearing witness, with an inability to help. Abruptly a swift wind swept across the ground. Blackened and bruised, the petal arose, slowly gaining height, struggling to stay aloft. A fresh burst of warm air, rocketed beneath the petal, and it soared. Trees became blades of grass as the petal defied all previous boundaries to its existence. The gusts of warm air began to subside and the petal slowly sank, before plummeting into the depths of the earth. Rainbows fell to dust, the beaming sun pruned and a thick sheet of rain and darkness overwhelmed the environment. An eclipse upon happiness. A collapsing star. The infinitely empty void. Nothing could be seen, the petals existence was questionable even to itself and an ever growing pressure from above continued to force it downward.
