Pikes Peak
If you have never been to Pikes Peak that’s a shame, because it’s amazing. It’s so tall it took us more than 20 minutes to drive up it! When you are at the peak it drops 30 degrees F., it was 90 degrees out on the ground and it was 60 degrees on the top of the mountain. There were bunches of rocks on the top that my dad and I jumped around on. My mom didn’t want to and my sister was scared to fall and get hurt so the just carefully climbed around on them. The air is really thin up there so my dad and I were out of breath, and my mom and sister were getting cold. So my sister yelled “Dad, Grey, come on, let’s go to the gift shop” so we went. They have many stores to get stuff and great food, but that’s not what you care about so I’ll talk about the interesting part. When you walk in most of the people are wearing boots. Everyone is trying to yell over each other and when the show starts the crowd simmers down. The cowboy talks for a few minutes and they do an introduction and all that. It’s super fun to watch, they do a wild horse riding and my favorite part is the steer wrestling. They give the steer a 10 second head start and then a guy runs after it on a horse. Once he catches up to it, he jumps off the horse onto the steer and tries to wrestle it to the ground by its horns. It was very entertaining and I want to go again.
Yellowstone National Park
Everyone should go and see the miles of pine trees leading out to beautiful mountains and lakes at Yellowstone National Park,it has all that and more. We saw lots of wildlife, including a bear, buffalo and elk. I also viewed plenty of pretty nature too, including some waterfalls and canyons. I asked what the smell was and dad told me it was the sulfur from the hot springs. We witnessed the Old Faithful geyser go off and it went really high. At the end of the day we stopped at a river that was almost as clear as glass. That was a very scenic day with a whole lot of nature.
