The Pressure was high for the girls in the battle against Refugio. The team was up by 2, “It was a tough game,” Jurnee Peikert (9) said, “They definitely put up a fight”. Back and forth, the score for each team was neck and neck after each inning. No matter if they were on the field or in the dugout, the girls continued to support their teammates.
“The two opportunities I was able to go to the State Tournament were definitely my highlight moments.” Degler said. “It’s an experience you don’t always get to have, and we had a good group of girls who played hard and it all came together for us, we didn’t know it at the time but it’s something you look back on and remember.”

Throughout the season, it shows the struggles of the athletes in class and on the field, but also shows the struggles and obstacles Coach Courtney goes through. The team has several players that are very
Sports are fun and very beneficial. Everyone can improve in skill, strength and cooperation. Both genders, however, may improve better with the opposite. The question is, should sports teams be coed? Of course some people would prefer not to be paired in a coed team, but it’s a very positive influence on both genders.
Then, tragedy struck the team; three of our fastest girls were injured and out for the season. Now, I wasn’t happy about them being sidelined, but it did finally give me a chance to recover my placement from the beginning of sophomore year. I wanted to help lead the team to state, and with what my coach had previously said, it didn’t appear to be too far out of my reach. However, “too far” should have been followed by an asterisk, as my season soon spiraled out of my

I waited by the dance room door for what felt like hours, waiting to see if I made the varsity cheer team. The feeling of both nervousness and excitement overcame me as the coach walked over to the door to post the numbers of the few who made it. The past nine years of my life I played softball year round when I decided to trade in my bat and helmet for a set of pom-poms and a bow. Making the switch from softball to cheer was a big change, I had neither the skill nor physical capability to do what the sport of cheer incorporated.
The varsity had won one district game and the last game determined playoffs. They lost and it ended my hope of being on the varsity team my junior
The start of my freshman year was a thrilling experience for me. To start out my freshman year I made the schools Varsity soccer team, a huge accomplishment for me. However, I was naïve to the coming situation to myself. I was on the path to continuous harassment from teammates as I was surrounded by seniors. Many of the seniors had egos, full of themselves in every aspect possible.
Growing up, I attended a very family oriented school that has helped me to grow, by exposing me to people who perform care taking roles. My involvement in the National Honor Society and other activities helped me mature and required me to develop the four pillars of personal leadership, service, character, and scholarship that allow me to connect with different people outside of my peer group. Immersing myself in these social groups, guided me to fully commit to and carry out many responsibilities. Since the ninth grade, I have been a part of my high school’s basketball team, which has taught me leadership and enriched my communication skills. Being a member of high-school teams helped me understand that sometimes I need to drop the walls I keep in place to allow my team members and I to work together as one family.
My team is a squad of 30 girls. Being captain at times can be quite challenging because there are 30 different personalities, which means that there are normally disagreements or attitudes that I have to help solve. My main goal is to keep our team strong not only physically, but mentally. I strive for an unbreakable bond with each of the girls and that we stick together as a family. Over the years, I have realized that nothing is harsher than girls to other girls.
Shortness Is A “Weakness” The book I am reading is Travel Team, by Mike Lupica. I really have enjoyed this book so far because it’s about the sport I love, which is why I keep reading it. It’s about a kid named Danny Walker who is mainly known for his shortness, but that doesn’t stop him. He may be the tiniest kid on the court, but he plays just as good as the 6 foot post on his team.
Ray Bradbury’s 1950 dystopian novel, The Rocket is a short science fiction classic based on a man who fantasizes of travelling to space. This futuristic tale communicates, how anyone is authorized to travel to space without any prior experience and preparation on how to operate and navigate a rocket. The story of the The Rocket, is based during a more advanced time in the future as anyone at that time is able to fly to space as long as they have money to support their trip, the protagonist is a father, named Fiorello who wants to bring his family to space, but to do that he must save a lot of money as the trips are far too expensive, nobody believes that he will be able to accomplish this task and even when people are that it’s impossible
Have you ever stared in a mirror with tears streaming down, wondering if you should give up? I have. If I hadn’t had my friends with me the whole time, I would’ve probably given up many times. They taught me to to look forwards and bash through the barriers; never stop. Even when I’ve lost my legs.
