When reading a book and watching a film with him be similar characters. “Crow country” is a fantasy book which was published in 2011 and written by Kate constable crow country is about a girl called Sadie who is 13 and had to move to Boort in Australia, in the book Sadie speaks to the crows and travels back in time to fix bad things that had happened. Whale rider is a mystical film.
It is directed by Kiki Caro and realised in 2002. Whale rider is a film who has a girl called Paikea who is a 12 year old, in the film Paikea try’s to bring together all of the Maori people, to save the ancestors(whales). Sadie and Paikea both share the same similarities like respectful, spiritual and courageous.
Sadie and Paikea are both respectful of an indigenous culture, they both have respected for there family and others this is shown. In this part of the story in crow country Sadie and Lachie go to Jimmy’s raven grave. When she is at the grave Sadie says “ I should of brought flowers or something”, this refers to Sadie quote of her being respectful even in sad times. Paikea uses respectfulness when she sings the Maori song at the concert. This shows she sings with loyalty and honour to the Maori people, she is also loyal and is honoured when she is trying to bring all the Maori people together to help save the ancestors.
