According to Hall & Hall (1996), Context is defined as the information that surrounds an event and it is inextricably bound up with the meaning of that event. There are four context of communication in the interaction such as physical, cultural, social-psychological and temporal context. Physical context is the tangible or concrete environment, the room, park, or auditorium. The physical context of the interaction is happening at a briefing or meeting room, where Marshal Pentecost wanted to see Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori. Besides that, cultural context involves the lifestyles, beliefs, values, behavior, and communication of a group. The cultural context is that in the scene when Raleigh Becket protected Mako Mori in saying that she has got the potential to control the jaeger and also admitting that it was his fault not hers. Other than that, social-psychological context has to do with the status relationships among speakers, the formality of the situation, the norms of a group or organization. The non-verbal shown by the Marshal when he decided that Mako was not ready yet in handling a jaeger, the non-verbal communication of Marshal Pentecost was very passive and by that Mako understood the decisions made by the Marshal. Besides that, Raleigh Becket communication with Marshal Pentecost was very assertive and aggressive. He did not agree with Marshal Pentecost that Mako was not ready yet in controlling a jaeger and he was a bit aggressive with the Marshal because he was frustrated that the Marshal did not attend to listen to him.
