Hinduism is one of the world’s oldest religions and have been influencing the lives of a vast population of persons worldwide. Trinidad and Tobago is multicultural and therefore there is no one religion as it relates to different cultures. India however is the home of Hinduism. During the period of slavery when the Spanish ruled the land of Trinidad, Roman Catholicism were the official religion and was further reinforced when the French Revolution took over the land from the Spaniards. The French also once ruled and shortly after the British ruled over the lands and brought Anglicanism and Protestantism along with them. After the abolition of slavery People from East Indian subcontinent brought with them their languages and their Hindu and Muslim religions. As time passed diversification followed with the immigration of Syrians and Lebanese who brought them the African-influenced religious sects such as Shango, or Orisha faith, derived from Yoruba culture of modern Nigeria, and they also brought the Spiritual Baptists faith which is a syncretic Protestant-African church. Then In the late 20th century there was a striking increase in the adherents of Hinduism and of various fundamentalist, Evangelical, or Pentecostal churches, mainly of U.S. Origin.

Although the both cultures might seem quite similar they are vastly different. Such as
 Language outside the religions
 Ethnicity
 Caste system – The caste system is only practiced in India however and not in Trinidad
 Race - while India is predominantly Indians Trinidad and Tobago have a variations mixed of races (Douglas).
 Most dominant religion - in India the dominant religion is Hinduism and in Trinidad and Tobago is Roman Catholicism.
 Marriage age difference – The age in which a man can get marries in Indian is twenty-one years and a woman eighteen, whereas in Trinidad a man can get marries at ages eighteen and a woman ages fourteen For it to be legally performed.

The different religions within the culture of Trinidad and Tobago compared with that of India are basically the same, however the distribution in terms of statistic varies.
