Similar to the Greek and Roman deities was Chandra, the lunar god in the Hindu culture and religion. Like the Greek and Roman gods Chandra was described as young and beautiful, but unlike the lunar goddesses is depicted as a male. Every night Chandra rides his moon chariot across the sky which is pulled by either ten white horses or an antelope. To push the similarities even further Chandra is also known as the one of the gods of fertility. It is said that Chandra gives life to the plants through the dew which fell on them overnight.

In most religions, the God or Gods that are worshipped are said to have no flaws. This notion is displayed by religions like Christianity where Jesus, the son of God, is portrayed as the most perfect example of what it means to be a human who lives a fulfilled life. He emulates the values of honesty, humility, service and love to those around him. Furthermore, he is a teacher that people flock to see and learn from for he is all-knowing. However, Hinduism takes a different turn as, though the Gods are portrayed as powerful, they are also portrayed as learners that just like humans, could fall from grace and favor.

The Hindu cosmology is having or including many myths about creation. And the most important players have risen and fallen in importance over a period of 100 years. The earliest Vedic text, the Rig Veda, tells of a gigantic being, Purusha, possessing a thousand heads, eyes, and feet. He completely covered the earth, extending beyond it by the space of ten fingers. When the Gods sacrificed Purusha, his body produced a purer or easier to see through butter, which to be the source of the birds and animals.
Worship is the way in which people speak and deal with their god or gods. In Hinduism, they have more than one god to worship for. As what has stated in the Vedas, many gods are mentioned for instance Agni the god of fire and Indra the god of war, but as the religion grew larger and developed wider some of them were renamed and became the gods which Hindus worship today.
