Dam Nation- The documentary Dam Nation is a multi-issue, semi-historical argument against dams in the United States. While it addressed many reasons why dams are detrimental, it did not discuss the any particular problem in depth, nor did it offer serious counter-arguments in support of dams (I don’t consider political stump speeches to be a fair representation of an opposing perspective). As a critical viewer, this biased representation made me suspicious of all the arguments. How can I accept the credibility of someone who won’t describe the whole picture?

The used of slang is appropriated depending on who it is that you are trying to write to. For school and workplace you want to sound professional. How America is different than other countries is that America is treated differently than any other countries the way they are treated different is that they have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Also in this country we pay high taxes. America has more diversity than other countries. In America we don’t just use English we use a variety of other languages. America is also wealthy.
As the song goes, "In 1492,in fourteen ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue." Before Christopher Columbus sailed to the New World, the Native Americans knew it as their home. Soon after Columbus reported back to let all of Europe know that he successfully found land, European settlers quickly followed. Every tribe was one of it 's kind, yet their cultures shared the importance of their religious practices, beliefs, and values . The Native Americans were generally very peaceful people, that is, until the Europeans invaded their land and forced them to fight back.
The last difference in this paper is the difference in greeting of other people in the two cultures. In Mexican culture, you greet people by shaking their hands or giving a slight bow when introduced. Mexicans greet women differently than they greet men: when greeting a woman, Mexicans generally bow and only shake hands if the lady extends hers first. American greeting style is informal with just a saying of “Hi” or a brief 3-5 second hand shake. Americans don’t have a separate greeting style for women because they believe in gender equality.
Although there are similarities between Mexican and American cultures based on Hofstede’s culture theory, culture differences are still exist between the two countries in terms of power distance, individualism vs. collectivism, and time management. Local employees tend to expect to be told what to do by supervisors and they try to manage a close long-term commitment to the organization (Hofstede Center, 2016). Race classifies individuals by their genetic make-up and physical characteristics. I was born and raised up in South Korea for twenty years, and thus I know Korean culture very well. I also understand American culture as well, because I lived and worked with Americans for four years.
