The kids who are fighting are being bribed, manipulated, and brainwashed. In the article ‘Armed and Underaged’, it says, “They (the children) are easily manipulated, intensely loyal, fearless, and, most important, in endless supply” (Gettleman 6). Easily manipulated with many kinds of things such as drugs. Also stated is, “They don’t complain, they don’t expect to be paid-and if you tell them to kill they will kill” (Gettelman 6). That goes along with the whole brainwashing thing.
They don’t understand that each country has their own style to speak and use their words. The author is trying to state that it all works that way. It doesn’t matter how you speak the language and the important thing is that we all understand each other. She is trying to get her point out in her essay on how her life was knowing that she grew up speaking and understanding it that way. The author states, “repeated attacks on our native tongue diminish our sense of self” (Anzaldua 39).

In Mexican culture, you greet people by shaking their hands or giving a slight bow when introduced. Mexicans greet women differently than they greet men: when greeting a woman, Mexicans generally bow and only shake hands if the lady extends hers first. American greeting style is informal with just a saying of “Hi” or a brief 3-5 second hand shake. Americans don’t have a separate greeting style for women because they believe in gender equality.

My home town where I lived half of my life in was in a little country town called Sanger, Texas. Although my older years of growing up I spent them in the city of The Woodlands, Texas. Even though these two places are both in Texas and in the South, there are still many differences in the cultures. Having a hispanic family and a white family you can see the differences in both of them even though they both live in the same area. In a hispanic family, they are very loving and always wanting to kiss you on the cheek when saying hello and goodbye.
Class differences still exist today, but it is not how it used to be at the time of the Great Depression. Nowadays, there is equal opportunity for education and health. In the 1930th, there was a great class division between the rich and poor in America but still it was so much better compared to 1930th Ireland. Cultural Diversity is not something all countries have come to terms with. Some cities are more diverse and culturally rich more than others. I believe the one important factor of being an adult is to know how other cultures may be different from you own. In my opinion knowing what other cultures are like gives individuals and groups the ability to make sound decisions. Cultural diversity is something I love about living in the United States.
