The first cultural experience I attended was theater play called the “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” on Dec 2, 2017 at 7pm. It took place in the high school’s auditorium at Stafford Senior High School located in South Stafford Virginia. This play was open to everyone, so brought my daughters with me. We really wanted to take pictures, but I was unable because there was a sign posted at the entrance of the auditorium that clearly stated “No Flash Photography Allowed”. I informed the gentleman at the entrance that I would like to take a picture or a short video for my Humanities Cultural Experience assignment. I even promised him I would turn off my flash and not interrupt the play. He did not hesitate to tell me, “No.” Besides that, …show more content…

I love the message in this story. The story has a message in it about being selfless to others. This play’s theme displayed the emotion of love. I found it interesting that the narrator of this play gave credit to C.S. Lewis, the author, of the book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This book is what the play and movie is based off of. I also found it interesting that the performers were loud and clear with their words. We were able to hear them from the rear of the auditorium. I really enjoyed their vibrate energy during their performance. The props in the background complimented the story. The makeup was not appealing, and needed to be more creative. The costume designer did the best they could do. The costumes fit the performer’s character in the play. The stage director did well with the lighting. It made it very easy for me and my oldest daughter to understand what they were doing. We’ve attended a play at Six Flags last summer, and it was extremely frustrating to not hear or understand the story. The most interesting thing about this play was that the performer laugh, joked, played, and interacted with the children after their …show more content…

The photo is located below this paragraph and above the hyperlink. The advanced ticket was $16 and $18 at the door. I paid the door price, because I originally planned to see a small band play at a bar in Fredericksburg, Virginia that a friend told me about. I’m glad I changed my mind because The Academy of Ballet put on a great show. We really enjoyed this play. I was pleasantly impressed the show continued regardless of the inclement weather. This production was well organized. Like they say in showbiz, the show must go on!! The Nutcracker is a fairy tale written by E.T.A. Hoffmann in 1816. The gentlemen who was sitting next to me told me that The Nutcracker has been poplar since the 1950s. I find that interesting because the ballet was written over a century ago. I am so glad it’s popular now because this play has all of the wonderful elements of The Nutcracker large mice, large dolls, soldiers, and colorful fairies. The chorography was beautiful and graceful. We can tell that the dancers took a lot of time to practice and perfect their dancing technic to be prepare for this performance. The texture and color the background theme and
