Imagine going from riding your carriage one day then hurdling through outer space the next. The 1900s displayed this type of rapid advancement and brought a substantial transformation to every aspect of American life. All the way from equal rights for everyone to the dramatic change in entertainment, everything was shifting. As the 20th century was coming to an end, 1988 became a defining year in American history because of the technological advancements in many aspects of day to day life, the successful relaunch of NASA and space travel, the cultural impact of music, in particular the rap group N.W.A., and the election of an important president. Technology was booming during this time period and significantly impacted the culture of American living. These advancements were taking place every day, marking the start of a technological race to more advancement. 98% of homes now have television sets, which is a big difference from what it was just 10 years ago (Stephens). As more and more Americans began to own up their own TV, this changed aspects of marketing, communication, media, and more.
