The villagers came together and decided to make a lot of noise to scare the beast away and it worked. Because of that, the villagers decided to celebrate every year by making loud noises and setting off firecrackers so the beast would not come back. This is the myth that Chinese New Year is based on.

Believe it or not, we make use of cultural artifacts much more than one would think. In “The Dreamscape of Nightmares,” Natalie Angier questions the intent of dreams and nightmares. A true nightmare is demonstrated by the dreamer being jolted awake. Yet, even while nightmares are disliked, scientists are convinced that dreaming is essential, not only that, but they also believe that nightmares offer insights to why we dream at all. Recently, the term “fear extinction memories” was created to identify the brain’s system of the cleansing of fearful memories to create space for future threats. Scientists found that bad dreams support this conclusion because of the brain's ability to overcome fearful emotions without awakening.
Cultural Immersion: Muslim Americans Part 2 Many Muslim families are labelled, judged, and in some cases feared by the American people. Many major cities have mosques, and it is important to acknowledge the presence and value this individuals have in our society. In effort to achieve a better understanding of the faith itself and the lifestyle of those that follow the faith, I visited a worship service and a community event held at one of the mosques in Iowa. In some ways this experience felt very foreign, yet in many ways it felt very comfortable.
The purpose of this presentation is to explore how the ideas for social justice were developed at the beginning of vocational guidance in Japan. In Japan, the word vocational guidance is now called career education. The word ‘vocational guidance’ was introduced to Japan in 1915 and then the word changed twice. The second word ‘career guidance’ appeared in 1957 and the third ‘career education’ in 1999. These changings show the evolution of career education today.

This theory is about career decision marketing and development based on social learning. Career decisions are the product of an uncountable number of learning experiences made possible by encounters with the people, institutions and events in a person’s particular environment. Krumboltz propose that people choose their careers based on what they have learned. The four main factors that influence career choice are genetics influences, environmental conditions and events, learning experiences and task approach skills. Genetic influences are inherited rather than learned such as physical appearance.
A very important distinguishing feature of an ethnographic research strategy is fieldwork. In fact, Whitehead (2005) claims that spending long periods of time in the field is “a crucial aspect of the classical ethnographer’s ability to comprehensively describe components of a cultural system as accurately and with little bias as possible” (p. 5). Critical Reflection In this assignment, I am going to define cultural awareness and cultural intelligence, and will also discuss how they relate to each other. Cultural awareness is the foundation of communication; it involves the ability to standing back from over selves and becoming aware of cultural values, beliefs and perceptions (Brislin.2006). Being aware of own cultural includes the goals and boundaries of a cultural; it also includes religion, language and relationships.
