Studies show that 72% of teenagers have either extracurricular activities, or work in the evenings after school. Teenagers enrolled in such activities are usually out later than teenagers who are not. Some people believe it would be a good idea to apply a 10 pm weekday curfew and a midnight weekend curfew for teenagers in order to keep them out of trouble, while others believe that would unfairly intervene in young people's lives. A 10 and 12 o'clock curfew would not be a good idea to place on teens, for it would disrupt their evening activities. One reason a curfew would be a bad idea is because not all teenagers are up to no good. There are many teenagers who are out at 10 pm for good reason. Many teens also have jobs, and depending on how late they work and how far away they live, it may be very difficult for some teens to get home before 10 on a weekday. Church is also a reason teens could be out late, for most churches hold activities during the week for teens and other younger students to attend. Although they are not obligated to show up, some teens find it disrespectful not to go to church events held during the week. Lastly, a curfew should not be put in place because it would not stop rebellious teens from doing mischievous activities. The curfew may make it more difficult for them, however, if someone wants something strongly enough, they will find a way around any obstacle. For example, if a teenager wanted to drink alcohol, they could easily go over to a friend's house over the weekend and drink there and stay the night, without ever breaking curfew. In conclusion, a 10 pm weekday curfew and a midnight weekend curfew should not be placed on teenagers. So many teens partake in sports practices, church gatherings, study sessions, club meetings, work, etc. after school and many may not be able to meet curfew. Also, most teenagers do not deserve a curfew, and those who do will neglect it and work around it. In the end, no one likes being told what to do,
