The design choices within the website created a page that is clean of distracting images and instead chooses for a minimalist design that is quite attractive. These design choices not only help in terms of visual appeal but also they have a role in the process of ethos, pathos, and logos. For example, the professional looking design creates a great impression of authority that appeals to the senses of ethos (CDC, 2017b). Additionally, the way that the charts portray the data in a way that one can see also helps in
I am writing this cover letter to you in regards to the Subway Infrastructure Civil/Mechanical Engineering Co-op Position in Toronto. I am interested in this position because ever since being exposed to public transit projects, such as the Eglinton Crosstown LRT lane and Spadina Subway Extension, I developed a strong interest in the construction, operation and maintenance of large transportation infrastructures, such as the TTC subways. I would like to work for the TTC because it would be a privilege to work for a company that provides safe, reliable and accessible transit services to our community which helps connect and move people across the city while simultaneously reduce congestion and pollution on Toronto’s streets. As a daily commuter on the TTC, I hoped to bring my passion in public transit and strong technical skills in Microsoft Office, Sketchup and AutoCAD, to continue improve the TTC and to ensure that it is the “better way” not just for commuters, but also the environment and the city, as a whole.
It also can be interpreted as the answer to the rising trend of building skyscrapers that came with the introduction of modern office buildings to the cities of Australia. While their construction was not stopped, the city gained many designs that vary significantly both in their exterior and interior. The use of glass, metal and monochromatic colours was replaced by colourful stones and gold-rimmed windows. The range of bright colours incorporated into the architects' designs also sets their buildings apart from others. These choices express emotions and personal attitude towards existing architecture of the city, creating a contrast necessary to show the pluralism of Australia as a

In 2016 with increasing of 4.8 million passengers per day, the demand of London Underground has increase a lot since it was first opened. With the increase in demand, a lot of systems and technology will have to change in order to keep up with the number of passengers. A lot of people would ask why couldn’t London Underground just simply change the size of the platform and trains to keep up with the demand. The answer for the question is simple; it is because they couldn’t do it. From the brief history of London that mention above, a lot of historical site and limitation is stopping London Underground to expand easily.
My design philosophy is utilitarian. Coming from a journalism background, I employ designs as vehicles for information delivery. As well-crafted editorial designs are essential for detail-heavy stories, I utilize efficient yet simple designs to help readers actively digest information, creating interactions with the content creators as well as the stories. I have substantial print design experience based on the philosophy of simplicity and functionality. At the Observer Media Group, my designs secured our rating as the best weekly in the nation and won first place in overall graphic designs at the 2015 Better Weekly Newspaper Contest.

N-YHS holds 66,000 unique subway construction photographs that provide a wealth of information on the built environment of the city, including buildings that had to be demolished to dig the routes and the public spaces that were forever altered. The New York City subway system is the largest subway network in the country, and its construction – in three separate phases – constitutes one of the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken by any U.S. metropolitan area. The photographs capture streetscapes and the rhythms of daily life in the city; document engineering technologies during a transitional era in which manual and animal labor coexisted with new, mechanized approaches; and depict the growth of the modern city and its ever more diverse population.

Modernist education within design and its birthplace in 20th century modernism encourage students to be passive and objective communicators. Over time, these words have become strongly associated with the idea that these are the characteristics needed to being a ‘professional.’ However, with this there becomes the question of how one can be a professional, yet still aim to keep one’s individual voice and root principles. McCoy suggests that by choosing to regularly work with the corporate world you should accept that fact that it is an active job due to the way it prioritises the demand for large businesses over all else, and therefore begins to encourage designers to carefully think about the purpose or subject matter of their projects, something of which was a mass part of the modernism movement. -“A design has no more integrity than its purpose or subject matter.
