The overall purpose of this paper is to present new information on CVS Health/Pharmacy that some people may not know. This paper also shows CVS Health/pharmacy financial statements form certain years, to show how much they make in revenue, etc. I had to find research on the company’s history, which was long, but it is summarized in the paragraph below. Also listed below are the current CFO and CEO of CVS Health Corporation. All companies have ups and downs; some of the ones for CVS are in the paragraphs below. The first CVS store opened in 1963, which was a store that sold health/beauty products. It was founded by two brothers Stanley Goldstein and Sidney Goldstein and their partner Ralph Hoagland in Lowell, Massachusetts. CVS is known to stand for "Consumer Value Stores". By 1964 CVS stores had tremendously grown to 17 stores. The very first CVS logo is developed as a shield, with “Consumer Value Stores” written below and displayed on all their store fronts. Continuing in 1967, CVS started operation of their first store that included pharmacy departments. They opened stores in Warwick and Cumberland. In the year 1969, CVS was sold to a corporation called Melville Corporation. Year 1970 CVS operated 100 stores in the northeast. CVS nearly doubles in size with its acquisition of 84 Clinton Drug and Discount Stores in 1972. 1974 CVS Pharmacy earned $100 million in annual sales. 1977 CVS acquires the 36 store New Jersey- based Mack Drug Chain. Baxter Healthcare launches the first national hemophilia service. In the 1980’s CVS health breaks ground on the store support center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Senior vice president of marketing and CEO of CVS is Harvey Rosenthal. He succeeds Stan Goldstein. In the year, CVS health reached $1 billion in their annual sales. The biggest strength is that CVS Health was the first pharmacy retailer to stop selling tobacco. CVS has strength in the partnerships that they have with people, and other companies and brands. The first strength that they have is that they were the first to present health and beauty to its customers. CVS health has multiple stores around the country. They also have a long amount of good history in building up the brand/ name of CVS Health. CVS has multiple products that they sell in their store, some that other companies do not provide. CVS Health yearly revenue in 2015 was $ 153,290 million. CVS also has a considerable size of medicine in its pharmaceutical section. CVS has a strong customer base and support system also. Even though CVS health has a good amount of strengths, every company and/or brand has its weaknesses. Some people may think CVS does not have a huge variety like Walmart that could be weaknesses for them. Some of CVS are quite pricey compared to some other stores which are weaknesses. CVS health has multiple opportunities for their company, customers, and employees. CVS has an opportunity to become the biggest and best specialty pharmacy in the whole world, if the correct efforts are mad to do so. They have an opportunity to improve the pharmaceutical game even more than they already have. They have an opportunity to improve the customer service they provide.
