DCCS Hoyt’s Leadership Philosophy A leader is a servant to the people they lead. Many people think of a servant as someone who takes out the trash, gives them their meal at a restaurant, and cleans their hotel room. My definition of a servant in the form of leadership is not much different. Leadership is the breaking down of barriers to instill trust, which mobilize others to achieve results. A servant does all these items well. A servant wants to know about their people to know how to serve them best and remove the barriers that impede their people’s ability to succeed. I feel that with faith in God I remain vigilant to all things that can trap a man and cease his ability to perform for his family and others. I know what it is like not walking with the Lord and I never want to live like that again. We take Freedom in this country way to lightly, most people have never left the United States to truly appreciate our way of life and the freedoms we have. Family is all you have once the dust has settled on your life. I watched my father die alone and friendless at his end, begging for forgiveness for all his transgressions. His children where the only ones to forgive him. Discipline in all things we do is the difference between trying and success. While I will not say I am perfectly disciplined in all aspects of my life, I do understand that if I want to achieve something discipline it the formula. Finally wisdom, the older I get the more I ask for wisdom to guide my thoughts and to give proper advice to my family and those around me. I express all these personal values through my day to day interactions with people. I take the time to help those that are struggling with personal problems. That’s why faith is the start of my values and all other things need to align with my faith in God. This is my leadership philosophy that comes from an imperfect man with a servant’s heart, who battles past demons through discipline, and obtaining wisdom to lead
