I have a love for the inner workings of computers. Especially what makes programs perform the way they do. This fascination has pushed me to want to indulge myself with all of the knowledge that I can find. DMACC has a huge library of computer and programming knowledge. More specifically how to create firewalls and how to protect yourself from the viruses that we face in this digital age, that grow ever more complex and hard to detect with each passing day. When I was a junior in high school, my class as well as a few others, had the opportunity to go on a tour of DMACC’s west campus which is dedicated to technology. They showed a few of their popular school programs, but out of all of them the one that stood out to me was their cyber-security programs. If I was able to contribute to that I would feel like I have done what I was meant to do. Helping the community and those around me is what I hope to do in my career. Being able to find and solve a problem is what would make me be able to do my job effectively. Also the fact that I will talk to others in order to get help if I need it. Being able to take criticism will help me to make what I create even better. I want to help those in my community and in my career path that I’ve chosen. My love for coding will also make my job a lot easier for me and hopefully for my coworkers as well. I can also explain complex situations in easy to understand terms for those who need additional help beyond what others can offer. Being able to understand someone’s viewpoint as well as being able to connect with it and make connections to my own viewpoint.
