My chosen topic, is British Vogue and the issue I decided to focus on is the February 2016 issue which features Dakota Johnson on the cover. “Vogue is a fashion and lifestyle magazine that is published in 23 different countries”. Magazine publication in all of its many forms, is geared primarily on making information available to the public, regardless of how it is being presented, whether in print or electronic media.

Vogue debuted in 1892 , on the seventeenth of December and was originally a weekly gazette.It was an american issue however and the publisher at that time was Arthur Baldwin Turner. On the first cover we can see a well dressed lady on its illustrated cover , as seen in Image 3. However, the very first British Vogue was not published until September 1916. In the early days the type choices were extremely varied and it wasn’t until 1955, when they decided to keep the consistent use of the all uppercase banner headline set in a modified didone lettering.It has remained the same since 1955 and has led to it becoming a iconic trademark for their franchise.Didot typeface was created by a man called Firmin Didot. Giambattista Bodoni and Firmin didot are the designers credited with inventing the modern typefaces. They introduced greater contrast between thick and thin lines and long , fine serifs.
