A good interrogator can get someone to admit to anything if they used the right tactics, and to do this to someone that is mentally handicapped just shows how messed up these techniques
On 08/28/15 Steven came to school covered in live bed bugs and bed bug bites; this is the second time this has occurred. Steven told the reporter his grandmother treated the bed bugs on Monday but there is still an infestation and he wakes up at night with bugs on him. The family is poor and in need of resources but the child’s basic needs are met. Steven doesn’t require any medical treatment. Kevin also told the reporter his grandmother yelled and screamed at him the last time the school called her about the bed bugs.
Also, she had cerebral damage. The doctor that diagnosed her with mental retardation recommended treatment and further testing but was ignored by the state. Another factor is that she was hit by a truck/car when she was younger in which it affected her head. Also, that they didn’t factor in that she was diagnosed with mental retardation or that she has cerebral damage within the brain. Something that can be looked at is that she says she was there physically but mentally she wasn’t there.
Danielle Jackson Carlton - 5 English 11 1 March 2018 The Broken System we call Foster Care Yes foster care is an essential system used to provide loving homes to children, but unfortunately these systems have become broken and can no longer keep kids safe under their care. Everyday children are being placed in foster homes facing abuse, unloving parents, and even death. The system has only progressively gotten worse leaving behind children traumatized to a point where no amount of love or therapy can fix them.
Sometimes we as human beings have so much going on in our life’s that we get so caught up with it. We do not realize that other people in our community or in our world there are many children that are getting abused or hurt by their families. On 10/16/15 at Texarkana Special Education Center I attempted to interview Nolan W. while he was sitting on the rug waiting to go to the table to prepare for snack time. Nolan is two years old and when asked what happened he would say "boo boo" and point to his chin. I asked where and he said "fall down boo boo" while pointing to his chin. I asked Nolan if I could take a picture of him. I took a picture of Nolan's face and then one of his chin.
Christa Moore was spending the day at a playground, watching her two daughters having fun on the swings. She began getting a strange feeling when she noticed a man “eyeballing” her children. Moore quickly realized her gut instinct about the man was right. Before she knew it, the stranger had managed to walk up behind her two-year-old, rip her off of the swing and tear the little girls pants and diaper off of her.
She ran out of the house to go speak to the police and report what she saw. Joshua Phillips was 14 at the time of the crime and had no diagnosed mental, emotional, or physical

Neglected children are more likely to have medical problems than children who have been physically or sexually abusing. For instance, in young children and foster care, there is a case where the police raid on a crack house which the adults fled and abandoned two children. They were placed in an emergency children’s shelter, and two weeks later they identified them. After the pediatrician had read their medical records, they learn that both of the children have been exposing to cocaine, hepatitis B exposure, and congenital syphilis which was treated in the newborn nursery. Many teens in the system abuse substances to cope with their trauma especially alcohol and cannabis.
Feral Child Task This task will majorly focus on the lack of social and cognitive development of Genie and its connection with Piaget’s and Erickson’s human psychological development theories. As one of the most well- known feral children in the 20th century, the young girl Genie had been confined to a room, isolated and abused by her parents for over a decade before the rescue. Due to the severely abnormal development occurred in the childhood, Genie’s linguistic ability was nearly undeveloped, her limbs were not fully extended, her development was delayed from various perspectives.
Obviously, the child could have possibly already came from scary, abusive, or just a bad situation, they don’t want to go right back to this environment. After reading a few foster care stories, this one story about this one boy stood out to me. The website “www.fosterclub.com” had this boy’s
In the text ‘ Savage or Solitary? : The Wild Child and Rousseau’s Man of Nature’ by Nancy Yousef she explores how feral children function after being in the wild to fend for themselves. These children are seen as wild animals and when they are contained, they are constantly being studied to see if they are capable of obtaining what is seen as ‘normal’ societal behavior that one would possess. In the text, it looks at how a boy named Victor was found in the wild and when he was finally contained, anthropologists believed this was fascinating because they wanted to see if it was possible to develop what is seen as normal human behavior and since he had not learned this previously, they believed he was a blank slate.
Causes of child neglect vary, and we have to remember that just because a family is poor doesn’t mean that they are neglectful, so basically before a professional can say that a child is being neglected caution must be exercised, and they must watch for the
