One of the things that struck out to me was the fact that Darwin was a really modest person. A lot had to do with the fact that he was open to criticism and wasn’t egocentric although he had published important papers. From Darwin’s point of view, he could care less if people criticized or belittled his work because he knew he had worked to his utmost ability and did everything in his power to contribute to the Natural Sciences. Although Darwin was not an excellent student, one of his greatest strengths was that he had a strong “zeal for whatever interested [him] and [had] a keen pleasure in understanding any complex subject or thing”.
