Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection explain that organism’s trait favored by their environment are more likely to survive and successfully pass down their gene. There are varieties in a population of organisms. Some heritable traits are passed down to the next generation. Individuals with the traits that are favored by their environment are better adapted to survive and reproduce. More organisms are produced than the environment can hold. But resources are limited, organisms must compete for essentials to survive and reproduce. In Jerry A. Coyne’s book, Why Evolution is True predict evidence of evolution by natural selection and facts that “make sense only in the light of the theory of evolution”. By Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection justify the existence of vestigial features, and bacteria’s resistance to antibiotics prove natural selection acting in the wild. …show more content…

The environment select traits that are best adapt. Traits that are beneficial to the individual will increase in population. The heritable trait will be passed down. Traits suited in one environment would not necessity be best fitted for another. When the organism’s environment change, natural selection may choose to favor a new trait. Traits that are no longer beneficial in the environment, its less likely for offspring to inherit that trait. Some traits that are no longer beneficial will still be possessed in the organisms but that trait is unusable. Using evolution as reasoning, biologist predict the evolutionary change for the whales. Whale was once a land creature and it transformed over time to survive in water. The back of a whale’s body obtain small vestigial leg bones. Whales once needed the legs to live on land. But due to the changes in the environment, whale’s leg is not useful in water verse when its leg in need on
