The artist’s analysis and points assist me to come to the conclusion of truthfulness. The small images that were formed on the tiles helps the audience reach the conclusion
This is an image that I stumbled upon as I was browsing through my instagram feed. The unique architecture, different colors, and interesting visual elements stood out to me and made me want to perceive the meaning of this image. After reading chapter 2, I was able to identify the form, color, depth, and perspective. Each of these visual cues are present and work together to give this image more meaning and visual appeal. In terms of form, the triangle shape is dominant in this image because there are a lot of them and they are also very large in size.
I wonder if your drawing was influenced or inspire by the materials on the carpentry table or if this a coincidence. The materials on the carpentry table were round milk bottle lids, nails, and tin beer bottle lids. Once you had finished your
In general, the thick curved lines are used to carve the figures of putti, the head of the man and Medusa. However, thin straight lines are used for details on the carvings. Most of the shapes on the Garland Sarcophagus are round and curved, besides the tomb itself is a rectangular shape. As for colour of the marble sculpture, the artist did not use any form of colour, only the natural marble colour. The Garland Sarcophagus is a coffin, the maker uses depth to create a space where the body would be placed.
The sculpture of the professor is just as equally iconic and famous as the “3D version of the WMU seal”. The sculpture which is made only of bronze depicts a human sized figure of a male professor who is on the move. The male figure is capture in a walking motion with one book on the left hand while his right holds an open book that he appears to be reading. In terms of the sense of shape, the sculpture is hard edged and rough. However, the rough feature of the sculptures surface contributes to its appeal.
There is a dominant grid-like pattern, which is offset by the circular forms of the two doorknobs. The rectangular panels are of nearly equal size, and are crowded by many small figures. The composition is very organized, but the variety of the individual scenes helps to create a much more natural appearance. This work is distinctive due to its combination of visual and narrative elements. The figures give a sense of naturalism, and stand on a visible ground line.
Sculptures are a form of artwork that portray a certain message towards an audience at hand. The University of Texas at Austin holds the following two sculptures which remind us of the power of artistry: Martin Luther King, Jr (1999) and Blue Woman in Black Chair (1981). The former monument, by Ana Koh-Varilla and Jeffrey Varilla, stands in the East Mall and the latter, by George Segal, sits on the 2nd floor of the Blanton Museum. Both sculptures represent a distinct human figure yet, differ in their components in relation to their size/scale, subject matter and figure/drapery. Regarding size/ scale the Varillas create a larger than life sized bronze, figure placed on a sturdy pedestal, demonstrating the concept of authority and influence.
The thickness of the sculpture and its lifesized appearance give viewers a sence of volumetric. The outline is smooth and round without sharp angle. Not much details are presented except for the folds on the rope and some decorations on his arms. The surface is smooth without any texture or lines that suggests movement. The volumetric
On our field trip to the Getty villa this semester, we had to choose an art piece that stood out to us among the many there. The task at hand seemed easier than it was, as there were many art pieces that held my attention. One thing I kept in mind was that many of the Greek art pieces were either recovered from the bottom of the sea or were Roman duplicates. This meant finding background and details about them would be challenging. Of the art pieces, the Statue of Hercules or the “Lansdowne Herakles” was the one that I chose to write about.
Benitez uses lines to draw the focus from the bottom of the art piece with the faces to the top of the dome. The sharpness of the board gives each side of the dome separation from every other face: almost as if each face stands on its own panel. The top of each side has three borders before the dome begins. It is a formal separation and transition from the dome to the nonagon base. defines the shape of the art
The Tilted Arc Satisfaction, bitterness, remorse, and inspiration are all emotions that can overcome a person while viewing a public piece of art. It is very difficult for an artist to create a public piece of art that would satisfy each demographic and bring them overall gratification and no negative feelings while viewing the art piece. These hardships definitely came into play when it comes to Richard Serra’s creation of the notable New York City artwork the Tilted Arc. Richard Serra created a never before seen type of artwork that generated an abundance of controversy making the citizens wonder if there is a good and bad side to art, if it is placed in public spaces must it accommodate them and please them aesthetically.
Kahlo used very thin lines to define both the Fridas and aortic valve. This paing had a strong use of implied lines, Frida used implied lines to define the movement and blood flow between the two hearts. She also used them to put influence on the clothing to give them a realistic feel. I didn't see as many shapes as I did line composition. The few shapes I came across throughout the image was an oval and rectangle.
Frida used many different elements of design. For example, there are curvilinear lines to symbolize umbilical cords coming from her body to the six objects floating around her. The diagonal lines suggest movement from the center of the piece outwards. There is also a very distinct horizontal line the separate the
The cross-shapes plan has wings in the north, south, east, and west directions. Eight sculptures, two on each wing, are intended to reference the ‘Winds in Athens’ ancient Greek Tower. The two carved reliefs for each wind were done by Wyon, Aumonier, Gerrard, Rabinovitch, Gill, and Moore. There are two other sculptures on the building known as ‘Day’ and ‘Night’ by Epstein. They were heavily criticized in 1929 for being indecent.
