Every year roughly 110 people win the lottery of a million dollars or more. Only 75% of lottery players actually believe they will win. Which means one in every four people will pay to play and not even expect to win. In Thoreau’s Walden he expresses the idea “that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he imagined, he will meet success unexpected in common hours”. As he speaks of this in his text during a time where he was deciding to move out of the small home he built for himself so he would be away from others and out of the main society.
