History does not only live on but it is a huge step that takes the nations towards a more advanced future. Speaking of the past, before America even gained its independence from Britain, colonists lived under British power. Powerless and unable to do anything, the colonists and Americans did not have a representative to represent them. Because of this, their powers were low along with their rights limited. Besides limiting the powers of the colonists, the British ruler also gave tax to them and forcing them to house British soldiers. This mistreatment and cruelty eventually lead colonists to rebel which soon not long afterward, lead to the Revolutionary war. Taking in what the British has done to the colonists, the revolutionary war leaders wanted a government that will protect the rights of the citizens. According to what the text reveals, it says that “To preserve the delicate balance between liberty and power, the Revolutionary leaders believed that their new governments must protect the rights of individuals and states from being violated”(Page 173). Revolutionary leaders are courageous generals that are willing to give up their lives in battle for a better future of the Americans. From what they have seen throughout their services to their country, they have seen that their government needs to be more protective of the people’s rights. Because of this, the government was able to become more protective of people’s rights. According to what the text has displayed, it shows that “new state level governments were also being created… limiting the powers of government so as to protect the people’s rights”(Page 173).
