Scarlet and gray, or scarlet and black? My answer will determine my educational experience for the next five years of my life. The Ohio State University and University of Cincinnati have been narrowed down to my top two college choices. Since I want to become a civil engineer, I favored these two colleges over the others for their outstanding engineering programs. Although OSU and UC both have great engineering courses, I think The Ohio State University would suit me better because of the campus environment and opportunities it has to offer. Therefore, expenses and scholarships play an important role in determining which college I choose. Since OSU and UC are both large public universities, they’re less expensive than most other colleges. OSU’s tuition is a little cheaper than UC’s, but I believe UC will give me more scholarship money to compensate for that. The Ohio State University charges an average of $10,000 per year (“OSU Statistical Summary”). Based on my class rank and ACT score, the highest scholarship level I’m eligible for is the Provost Scholarship, which grants me $2,850 each year (“Undergraduate Admissions”). University of Cincinnati’s average cost per year is $11,000 (“Basic Fact Sheet”). I have confidence that I could qualify for their Century and University level scholarship in the Cincinnatus Scholarship Program. This grants me a maximum of $6,000 each year (“Cincinnatus Scholarship”). I know that OSU is a very selective school, so I’m not surprised that they are offering me less than UC. However, I’m not going to let this factor break my decision with OSU. I know that co-ops and internships can cover most of the tuition
