The play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare is the tragic love story of two lovers that are forbidden to ever be together. Romeo and Juliet are members of the two wealthiest families in Verona, but their families are enemies. Juliet was an obedient young girl who had no interest in love or marriage, but throughout the play she changes her outlook on love and her family. She then falls in love with Romeo, and they both become impulsive and rebellious. These are two factors that will eventually lead them to their death. Before Juliet ever met Romeo, marriage was not something of importance to her. In the story, when asked what she thought about marriage, she responded with, “It is an honor that I dream not of” (Shakespeare, 1.3.68).
