Peacemaker Decisions are part of everyday life, as we make hundreds of decisions every day. As humans, values have a large impact on the decisions we make, for better or worse. In Romeo and Juliet, values have a very large impact on the decisions made, such as Tybalt’s honor, and how he fought to maintain it, and Romeo’s love, and how he fell for Juliet. A character that had great values and choices as a result was Benvolio. Benvolio values peace, as his choices ultimately lead to the ending of the Capulet and Montague conflict. Benvolilo values peace, as he shows it in every scene he’s in. He doesn't like fights or disputes remotely. A place he shows this in act three scene one. Benvolio says, “Either withdraw unto some private place And reason coldly of your grievances, Or else depart. Here all eyes gaze on us”(3.1.49-52). This situation reveals that Benvolio is clever, he realized he had no chance to stop the fighting. However, he realized the danger that would result from them fighting. Even so, Benvolio was able to stop any more bloodshed. After the big fight between the families, Benvolio stayed behind to explain what happened. He explained, “Tybalt, here slain, whom Romeo’s hand did slay” and how Tybalt slew Mercutio “With piercing steel at Mercutio's breast”(3.1.156-163). By doing this, Benvolio was able to save Romeo from being killed. The Prince, instead of ordering his death, exiled Romeo. “Immediately we do exile him hence”(3.1.193). Benvolio was able to stop his friend’s death and was able to keep the peace between the families, if only for now. Thus, this once again proves Benvolio values
