I’ve always heard people say that “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” This statement is considered factual, because someone else’s interpretation of attractiveness could be completely different from another. In the simplest way, beauty is not universal, it can not be generalized. But, what actually is beauty? To truly comprehend beauty, you should know where the term, beauty originates, and what it represents.
` To begin, the word beauty derives from the Old French word beaute, which is based on the Latin, bellus which means ‘beautiful, or fine.’The word was created to convey the attractiveness of a person or thing. To continue on, everyone knows what beauty is to themselves, but many people struggle to define it generally. The definition of beauty can never really be agreed on, some say it is physical, some say it is personality, and others say it can be both. Beauty is the quality present in a thing or person that gives pleasure or satisfaction to the mind and the aesthetic senses. The most commonly referred to definition of the word, Beauty is a beautiful person, especially a woman. Beauty also is indicated as a beautiful thing, such as a work of art or a building.
