By definition, the term “friendship” means “the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends.” However, that term has a variety of underlying meanings to it as well. For example, one can interpret it in a way that presents it to be “a shoulder to cry on”, someone to hang out with, or to possibly build a relationship with. Friendships play a pivotal role in our everyday life, whether the friendships blossom into something greater; such as a relationship or an inseparable bond, the feelings they share along the way are what makes the friendship memorable as a whole. With any pair of friends, a relationship is bound to flourish given that the specific criteria is met. The criteria being; contact, and common traits and interests.With the constant contact experienced between them, they may start to begin feeling infatuated with one another as a result. For example, in a classroom setting, the pair may get assigned seats next to each other. As time passes on, they start getting to know each other fairly well. With the first bullet point being checked off, now the couple can begin discovering common interests and personality traits shared amongst each other. This in turn, causes the couple to further engage in topics of interest to discuss. As a result, slowly but surely, they develop feelings for each other and begin to take things outside of the classroom per se. These outside meetings can range from dining at a local restaurant, to catching a movie together. Overtime, the couple could prosper even beyond expectation and live a happy life together in each other’s presence. So in conclusion, the term friendship can be formally defined as “the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends.” However, it’s meaning can also be interpreted in a variety of other ways as well.
