The novel The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong is about a girl that lives in a small town, not

knowing anything about her background. Until some new people move into their claustrophobic

town, and cause new feelings in her. There is a lot of different events that happen in the novel.

The Gathering is apart of a trilogy, the second novel is The Calling, and the third novel is The Rising.

1. The novel takes place in Salmon Creek, a privately owned small town owned by a

corporation, named the St. Cloud Corporation. They had bought the land and built it to become

a town for their employes. Less than two hundred people live in Salmon Creeks. Throughout

Daniel Bianchi and Rafael “Rafe” Martinez have similarities and differences. Daniel is known to be very loyal, smart, and a caring guy. He is seen as a protective friend that will do anything they can to keep his friends / family safe. Also he has dark blue eyes, blond hair, and is about 5'10". He often wears clothes that are comfortable to him and are simple. Rafael or most known as Rafe is the new kid at Salmon Creek. He is considered to have the player personality. Rafe may seem to be the mysterious player at the school, but he is actually a caring person. He will do what he is capable of to keep ones he care about away from trouble. He has amber eyes, black hair down to his shoulders, and 6’0” in height. He often wears leather jacket and has a couple tattoos. At first getting to know Daniel and Rafe, they will seem to be almost complete opposites. But, when you get to know them more you understand they both stand for the same thing. They want the best for the ones they care about, whether they have to sacrifice themselves or not. They look completely different from their natural traits, to what they wear though. Usually characters with Daniel’s personality do not get along with people with personalities like Rafe. But they both get along quite well throughout the novel. One main reason may be that they both want to be able to protect what they love and care for. They may help each other in the future with any troubles they have.
