Think about people who deserve status as heroes—from the past, from the present, from life, and from literature. What defines a hero? Write a multi-paragraph essay that develops your definition of heroism. Be sure to use strategies of definition (function, example, and negation) to guide your writing Have you actually sat down and thought about what a hero truly is? Seriously! Most people think of a hero as a savior in a costume with powers. Nobody thinks about what a true hero is. Like me? I have never thought about what a real hero is hero. Until the second I was born and met my hero. What are a few things that describes the purpose of a hero? Well you might say that they have powers and costumes and that they save people lives but that’s not it. Like, for instance, Matt Heinz says from his point of view, “The heros in my life are more than just the soldiers who put their lives before others to enable and sustain our way of life. The traditional definition of a “hero's” is someone who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities” (Heinz Marketing). Wow! Basically it means anyone can be a hero. For example, Matt Kettman has an explanation of his own, “The best thing I can come up with is that heroism is doing something where you’re really taking risks to help somebody else, and you’re not expecting to gain from that risk to yourself” (Kettman Smithsonian.com). His statement is makes perfect sense. Like if you wanted to go to your dance battle but your best friend is in the hospital so you decide to go see her and bring her her favorite flowers.
