Love is defined in different ways. People are those who give a meaning to the word love. Based on their experiences, they might living the best days with their loved ones, or despise love because of an unfortunate break up. Some people find their soul mate after the first try—some not even after the hundredth. Being in love and feeling the butterflies in a stomach, and love somebody unconditionally are quite different state of emotions. Love comes with patience, respect, compromise, and the most important thing—communication. ‘Say something’, a song sang by the pop duo A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera, is talking about love but the unfortunate one, the one that is coming to its end because of the lack of communication that exists between the two. “Say something, I am giving up on you” implies that the person wants to get through his/her lover and extract at least few words of his lover’s mouth, and says “I am feeling so small…I know nothing at all” By saying the words “I am still learning to love, just starting to crawl” he implies that it might be his fault—he has not loved enough and he is still learning how to. Although by these words he admits he is still learning how to love, with the little strength he has left, he fights for his relationship but the silence he is receiving as an answer is defeating him over and over again. It can be noticed that he repeatedly says ‘Say Something, I am giving up on you’ since he wants to provoke some emotions in his lover, and by repeating those words he is trying to convince himself to leave, even though he does not want to and intends to “swallow his pride”. What is unclear to us though are the circumstances under which he is leaving. There is a little clarity of whether some specific event happened that led to the break up, or just a general distance that has occurred over time between the two
