To begin with this post, I have chosen the quotes from Ann Landers; she quotes "Maturity is the ability to do the job whether or not you are supervised, to carry money without spending it, and to bear injustice without wanting to get even.". I think this quote means to be mature, is to understand. This quotes speaks to me on another level, because now that I have grown from certain stages in my life I can confidently say that she states a true statement. I have been working at my first job for about seven months now and I can proudly say that I have not spent one dime on anything I've ever wanted.
Maturation is a natural phenomenon experienced by everyone. It starts from the day birth and continues until death. Although this process is natural and will happen inevitably, different people in a person’s life can hasten it. For example, a person can be spurred away from home by his family and forced to mature prematurely. As well, someone could say something to make one see the world a different way.
Certain events affect a person's well-being and level of thinking in either a positive or negative way. A negative effect on maturity could be losing your family at a young age or getting in a car accident and having permanent brain damage. Some people may think that in order to mature you have to have something bad happen to you in order to learn but that isn't true. Say you're a foster child and you finally find the right home and parents who love you dearly. This would affect you in a positive way showing that there is hope for even the most tragic events in
There always comes a moment in a person 's life when one has to grow up, which is sometimes known as coming of age. The period is characterized by a young person who undergoes transition into an adult stage, thus learning to act and live like an adult. While the process of development occurs naturally as an individual advance of his age, it can also be influenced by occurrences, which force the person to grow faster. In most instances, the societal forces force a child to mature faster since one is acquainted with the responsibilities of an adult. For instance, during the civil war era, young people were forced into military so that they can join the war, this taking up the role of adults in the society.
Can people be fully mature? Many teeangers and adults think they are mature and can control many things. Here are two literary works that show how people are not fully mature as they thought. A short story “Crystal Stars Have Begun to Shine” by Martha Brooks and a poem “12 years old” by Kim Stockwood deal with the maturity of people.
Although my experiences are not as drastic as hers, she inspires me to make my own decisions. As I grow, I realize more that my independence is important because I cannot rely on other people as much since everyone’s experiences are different. For example, when they were children in Guyana, my parents had to walk miles to school while I am able to take the bus to school. Although my parents and I went to school up until the same age, our experiences lead to different approaches in situations. The transition from middle school to high school was eye opening because in middle school the class would move together, whereas in high school, everyone went their own ways.
Maturity is the feeling of needing to prove that one is sophisticated and old enough to do certain things. In the short story “Growing Up,” Maria’s family went on a vacation while she stayed at home, but when she heard there was a car crash that happened near where her family was staying, she gets worried and thinks it is all her fault for trying to act mature and angering her father. Society wants to prove how mature they are and they do so by trying to do things that older people do and the symbols, conflict, and metaphors in the text support this theme. First and foremost, in “Growing Up,” Gary Soto’s theme is how society acts older than they are and that they just want to prove they are mature. Maria wants to stay home instead of going
Arnett has provided enough detail about the stage and how it is successful in some cultures compare to the other. This article has also shown how emerging adulthood stage helps prepare adolescence for better future and help them explore their identity while getting them ready for adulthood. This comes with the disadvantage because some young people can take longer till they fully contribute to society. This is a type of a luxury that can’t be afforded by everyone.
As they go through this stage young people will begin to solve problems more easily and have an appreciation of other people’s views and opinions. However as they are still inexperienced in life a young person may appear immature at times with regards to their ways of thinking and speech. During the Emotional Development stage, a young person will begin to spend less time with their parents and want to spend more time with their friends socialising instead. A young person may also feel conflicted at times, as they will want the affection from parents, however this is usually short lived as the young person will then also reject it when it is given.
“There was something in me and I couldn’t help myself. I don’t think anybody ever gets that mad but once. Words came out of my mouth without me knowing what they would be.” In the short story “Sucker” a senior named pete who is admired and idolized by his cousin Sucker who is his unofficial brother after his parents died in a wreck. Pete does not always treat sucker in a mature or kind way.
“Maturity is not by age, but the acceptance of your responsibilities” (Unknown). In William Shakespeare 's, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo, who is a Montague and Juliet, who is a Capulet, met at a Capulet party. Romeo went to the party and met Juliet. They fell in love and got married the next day. Later that day, Romeo kills Juliet 's cousin, Tybalt.
In reality, most kids will come across a difficult situation they are not comfortable with or have any experience. Gaining maturity is about being able to make judgments while considering the retributions. About a month after I obtained my license and winter had began to take its full affect, I had to make a difficult decision. The roads were covered in a coating of ice and I had plans to go to my friends house. Of course, my mom told me that I should stay home.
There was a lot of experience that I have been faced through individual stages. When I was an infant until one year old everything seems not clear to me as I was a small child and one thing that I am familiarize with is my parents. Turning up to three years old I hate anyone to feed me or to take me home when I still playing with my friends outside. The most interesting part as at five years old and my parents took me to the kindergarten to attend my first class in school. Lot of creativity found as we shows everything to my teacher due to the planning and taking an initiative to do things in class that are required to us.
Maturity, defined by Webster’s dictionary is... just kidding using the dictionary definition of a word is pointless and dull. So what does maturity actually mean? Being mature is reaching the point of enlightenment in life that you realize that you are human and in life, you win some and lose some. You make mistakes, and are not complacent with where you stand. As most people think that being mature, and being defined with that word, warrants you to be smart and all knowing.
Maturity is the “full development” of an individual, but what does this mean? People have often thought that it just comes naturally over time. Maturity is the ability of a person to act responsible, making the most out of their current circumstances. Some people never reach the state of maturity, while other obtain it at a very young age. In this sense, maturity cannot be given to someone, but must be earned by themselves.
