Family: “A group of persons who are connected by blood or by affinity, or through law within two or three generations” (Ga. Ct. App. 1999). When it comes to what society deems as a family they may see it as your typical family: Dad, Mom, Kids and a Dog, basically whoever you live with. Then you have your outside family members, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and other relatives. What society fails to realize is that living in the United States a family is blended. You have people from other countries, creating mixed children. My definition of a family isn’t your normal definition, family could be made up of 1 mom, 1 dad and kids, or 2 moms or 2 dads, it doesn’t matter what the family is made of. As long as there’s love being brought to that household than there’s nothing wrong. Today there are plenty of families with 2 moms or 2 dads, there shouldn’t be any ill thoughts to seeing that, especially when there’s nothing but happiness and love, most importantly for the sake of the children. Family could also be people who aren’t related to you by blood, one may consider their childhood best friend apart of their family. My closest friend is someone I consider a close part of my family, we’ve been through so much, but he’s always there to help me out.
